
Meet Dr. Chang : Bio
Steve Chang, an ophthalmologist and medically licensed eye surgeon, is highly regarded
both by his patients but also by his colleagues. He teaches and writes extensively and
participates as an investigator in numerous studies to help advance patient-centered
eye surgery research. Therefore, he uses only the most up-to-date procedures that are
proven techniques for delivering highly-personalized optimum results.
Dr. Chang received his B.A. with Honors in molecular and cell biology at UC Berkeley. He continued his work at New York Medical College, where he received his medical doctorate. He then pursued further work at Cornell Universtiy, followed by Ophthalmology Residency at New York Medical College where he worked with pioneers in corneal and cataract surgery. Dr. Chang was elected to spend an additional year as the Chief Resident. Most recently, Dr. Chang spent a year as the associate surgeon at the internationally renowned Assil Eye Institute in Beverly Hills, CA.
Dr. Chang was recruited to join Pacific Vision Institute as the full-time Director of Cataract and Lens Surgery because of his extensive experience with both simple and advanced cataract surgery, with phakic IOLs, with presbyopic IOLs, multifocal IOLs, diffractive IOLs, aspheric and wavefront IOLs, corneal laser enhancements following cataract and refractive surgery, and with various other surgical techniques to help patients, both young and old, see well far and near without glasses.
His level of experience is unmatched in San Francisco.
Dr. Chang authored many papers, presentations, and book chapters, both nationally and internationally. Currently, he is publishing "Complete Patient's Guide to Cataract and Lens Surgery" to help patients understand lens-based procedures.
