ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens)
The Visian ICL is an FDA approved, cutting edge refractive lens used to treat people with moderate
to high levels of myopia (nearsightedness) and offers a great alternative to laser vision correction.
It is often the procedure of choice and the safest option for people who suffer from dry eyes, have
thin or irregular corneas, or who have very high prescriptions. The procedure is performed in an
outpatient setting and takes approximately 15 minutes to perform. The entire procedure is painless
and visual recovery is rapid with most people noting a tremendous improvement even 1-2 hours after
surgery.
The ICL is a tiny lens that is gently placed behind the pupil (colored part of the eye) and in front of the natural lens where it sits securely in position without the need for stitches. The lens is invisible to the naked eye and provides visual results that are similar and often times better than LASIK. Some people have described their vision as "HD" or high definition because the quality is better than that achieved with glasses or contacts.
