3-hour CE Dinner Seminar "New Perspectives on Keratoconus Management."

In response to many requests from our optometric community, we are co-chairing a 3-hour CE Dinner Seminar "New Perspectives on Keratoconus Management."

The Seminar will be held on Thursday, November 2nd from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco. The Club is located off Marina Blvd, near Crissy Field, with lots of parking and convenient access from different parts of San Francisco, Peninsula, Marin, and East Bay. Dinner and drinks will be served.

We are excited to welcome an internationally renowned guest speaker, Melissa Barnett, OD. Dr. Barnett is the Director of Optometry at UCDavis SHCS, a host of Clearly KC Podcast for the National Keratoconus Foundation, Immediate Past Chair of AOA CLCS, and Global Ambassador for BCLA.

The Seminar will allow participants to:

  • Learn about new diagnostic methods for early detection and accurate diagnosis of keratoconus
  • Learn how to do new in-office genetic testing and how to interpret the results
  • Gain proficiency in counseling newly diagnosed patients and parents
  • Become comfortable with the latest strategies in specialty contact lens selection, fitting, and timing
  • Learn the latest update on cross-linking methods and the status of FDA trials
  • Understand peri-operative and post-operative strategies to improve vision recovery and optimize corneal-flattening results with cross-linking
  • Learn about the new products for dry eyes and allergies in patients with keratoconus
  • Learn the results of studies combining refractive surgery with cross-linking, unique intraocular lenses, and cataract and glaucoma surgery in patients with keratoconus
  • Understand current clinical trials and learn how to get patients involved

At the completion of the Seminar, participants will receive a certificate recognizing training in the New Perspectives on Keratoconus Management.

3-hour CE Seminar "OD Primer on Successful Co-Management of Laser Vision Correction Patients” is jointly provided by the Physicians' Education Resources, LLC (PER) and The Science of Eyesight Foundation and is co-chaired by Dr. Ella Faktorovich (Pacific Vision Institute) and Dr. Isabel Kazemi (UC Berkeley School of Optometry). The Seminar will be held on Thursday, September 28th from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm at Sapore Italiano in Burlingame, CA

The Seminar will allow participants to:

Co-management of Laser Vision Summit
  • Learn the history of LASIK, PRK and other modern laser vision correction techniques
  • Learn how to do accurate preoperative screening to identify candidates for laser vision correction
  • Gain proficiency in counseling patients preoperatively and postoperatively
